Maleic Modified Rosin

Hardness and acid value, on demand.

Diels-Alder adduct of rosin with maleic anhydride. The reaction introduces anhydride groups into the rosin backbone, raising the softening point and improving compatibility with other materials — making it the workhorse modification for paper sizing, varnishes and protective coatings.
